ROOTED

Cold wax and oil paint create a foundation reminiscent of a mossy forest or meadow. As I work, the layers change to resemble a rust-colored earth. Beneath the copper, red, gold, and umber, that verdant green persists with its lushness. The dense medium and palette offers presence to the moment, and a rooting into remembrance.

HARMONY 

The black and white lines of ink and gouache are layered under and then over the melted beeswax. Their meditative rhythms are the lasting impressions of past teachers and travel experiences, remembered sensations that have been smoothed, warmed and softened by time.
